The GPAP Co-Creators Launch Workshop, held on 10 to 11 August 2026 at DTU, marked an exciting milestone for the Global Pathogen Analysis Platform (GPAP). Co-creators from Senegal, Mexico, Thailand, Ghana, Burundi, and Bangladesh gathered for 1.5 days of interactive discussions, collaborative activities, and knowledge exchange, united by a shared goal of strengthening the use of pathogen genomics for public health, animal health, food safety, and One Health action. Through diverse use cases ranging from hospital-acquired infections and cholera to Salmonella in wildlife, food, and environmental settings, participants brought real-world perspectives that will help ensure GPAP is shaped by the needs of its future users.

A key success of the workshop was the remarkable level of engagement from the co-creators. Participants openly shared their experiences, challenges, and ideas, generating valuable feedback on how GPAP can support users in different settings and countries. Beyond technical discussions, the workshop fostered new connections, identified opportunities for cross-country collaboration, and created a shared vision for how genomic data can be transformed into practical insights for decision-makers. Co-creators emphasized the importance of stakeholder engagement, capacity building, and clear communication to ensure that GPAP delivers meaningful impact where it is needed most.

Perhaps most importantly, the workshop demonstrated the strength of GPAP's co-creation approach. The co-creators left not only as future users of the platform, but as active partners in its development. Their enthusiasm, expertise, and commitment will play a vital role in guiding GPAP as it moves from concept to prototype and ultimately toward a platform that is relevant, trusted, and impactful across diverse global contexts.
